A very large conifer to more than 50 m (165 ft.) tall, native to the Sierra Nevada from Oregon to California and Nevada between 1400 and 2700 m (4600 and 8900 ft.), with a pyramidal crown and bluish-green, needlelike leaves. Suited for temperate climates in USDA Zones 6 to 8. Seeds should be cold stratified for about a month after sowing.
